I saw it coming when DJ Max Technika was announced after JuBeat. :P

Once again: Konami, you suck.

This is why I refuse to play any Konami games. They can't learn to grow the hell up.

Posted by: NVK on 16:55 CST :: 12/24/2008

part 3?

it's part 5, 6 or something

Andamiro - PIU
Roxor Games - ITG
Mad Catz (?) - Mc Groovz Dance Craze
Harmonix - Guitar Hero
Amuseworld - EZ2DJ
Harmonix again - Rock Band
Pentavision - DJMax

Plus, DDR X has been released and DDR fans are quite disappointed at it.

I had a feeling this could happen with the DJMT/Jubeat issue, but I felt I was exaggerating.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band did succesfully render GF&DM obsolete... and now I'm REALLY hoping that DJ Hero and that other hip hop DJ game do the same with IIDX.

Plus, I don't think Konami would have enough lifetime to sue the avalanche of US rhythm games that GH's popularity is provoking

you know that's definately not going to happen. IIDX has too far of an international fanbase to have those other two american clones bring down IIDX.

THIS IS ENOUGH!!!!  :grr:

I'm sick of Konami. So who will be next? Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony? There's Donkey Konga, Taiko Drum, and many others. Come on, who's left in your list Konami?

I'm really getting sick of this. Don't they realize how shamelessly pathetic they look?

"QUICK, THEY'RE MAKING MONEY! SUE!"

Posted by: cpubasic13 on 03:02 CST :: 12/25/2008

Going after Roxor I could see.

Going after Harmonix for releasing in Japan I could see.

This... what? Konami has a Korean division?

Posted by: Hypr on 10:14 CST :: 12/25/2008

Oh goody, another reason for me to add to my list of WHY I will NEVER buy anymore Konami games (besides the fact that their games are quite mediocre.)

First, they've killed In The Groove and pissed off ITG's fanbase, and to add insult on that injury, released TERRIBLE DDR games after successfully obtaining rights to ITG.

Now that Pentavision is doing real well on the PSP, Konami decides that it's time to fuck them over.

Well Konami, you still haven't changed my mind about you. I'm still disappointed in your games, and I'm even more upset that your industry has to resort to litigious actions such as this just because you're getting butthurt. Well guess what, IT'S CALLED COMPETITION! If your game isn't doing so well, it's probably because your game is BORING AS HELL! If someone else's game is doing better than yours, well...

TOUGH SHIT!

Konami, drop this fucking lawsuit, and go back to fixing and improving your games. That's what you guys need to be focusing on. Seriously, even your fanbase is sorely disappointed in DDR-X, and this time, you can't blame RoXoR for that!

And one more thing, you can't blame Pentavision for beating you to the PSP first.

Great I'm downloading Pop'n 16 because I'm not paying for stuff from a company that refuses to actually compete.

Konami probably hired a few guys to build a booth in a street and draw a corporate logo on it.

And Kuhazan, participating in piracy isn't going to solve anything. If you want the game, buy it. If you really want to give Konami the finger, ignore it.

Downloading isn't a form of boycotting, that's being cheap.

Downloading may be cheap and unethical, but it certainly can hurt Konami in terms of sales.

Though what is the point of downloading Konami games anyways? It's just rehashed, recycled bullshit for every damn sequel Konami releases. (Where the hell are the long-notes in Beatmania, Konami? Did Pentavision beat you to that too?)

I myself will just not buy anything from Konami. If someone wants a certain Konami game, I wouldn't hesitate to refer them to a download link myself. The losses Konami suffers will be a taste of their own medicine for screwing players and their fanbase with their mediocre game releases.

Posted by: Kuhazan on 22:22 CST :: 12/25/2008

It was just a joke... Konami hasn't released anything I'd be willing to buy since... hey when was the last time a Pop'n CS release came out?  :indifferent:

And it looks like they've reached their limit as far as creativity with that series goes... oh well. Maybe I should sell my ASC...

Posted by: cpubasic13 on 23:10 CST :: 12/25/2008

How much would you sell it for?
Posted by: stsung on 08:48 CST :: 12/26/2008

I have to say  that this news shocked me few days ago. I just couldn't believe it. I can understand KONAMI suing Harmonix for whatever case, can't understand letting neversoft use their patents and such but goddamn it I thought that DJ MAX would stay untouched. I don't play DJMAX as I have IIDX to occupy myself with but hell KONAMI....this is TOO MUCH!!!!

and release PNM CS15 please!!!!!!????????!!!!

btw. what I wrote yesterday on ddrnl forums...might interest you just a bit. (the ITG part was for me quite a shock...)

so well reviving this topic because heads of French DDR communities + DDR Belgium ahd a reunion with KONAMI France and they answered few questions that were asked.

Question asking about jubeat CS and BEMANI games and next gen.

Jubeat CS is not what concerns KONAMI nowadays (as many other stuff like KONAMI hardpads). KONAMI FR is not aware of any BEMANI game being ported to PS3 (other consoles were not mentioned and nothing else about the future of BEMANI in Japan was mentioned). BEMANI JP might be attending Japan Expo though so we can ask our questions there. (I'm going if BEMANI division is there! as if everything goes well and the DDR league is really going to happen BEMANI staff will have to be there at the finals at Japan Expo)

There will be DDR League supported by KONAMI and they will see the outcome of it and based on that good things can happen (French people always complain about not having enough arcades and good maintained ones but crap!!! this country has loads of them and are in quite a good shape! not the mention that the communities are there, people play etc etc...)

Anyway KONAMI does not really seems to have interest in outcome of this DDR League but as they said it's something !!!!new!!! unlike PES league for example. (crap and I thought everything is slowly dying off?)

Also KONAMI mentioned one weird thing. "As KONAMI owns the rights for ITG, they will be fine if we/you promote this game as well as DDR. Whatever the case new players won't be really interested in this as ITG is well dead. Thus KONAMI will concentrate on DDR (league and promotion which is supposed to be something BIG, but they did not say anything on that issue) and will leave ITG for "experts". (more precisely they will leave ITG for expert players....)

(I was shocked after this statement!!!!)

that's about this...I just felt like ....well sharing this information

Posted by: Yeehaw McKickass on 16:59 CST :: 12/26/2008

I think the last good thing Konami has released (published) was MGS4.  So yeah, nothing konami does anymore that isn't kojima related interests me, really.

Those assholes... :brood:

Konami should be boycotted, seriously.

Hey hypr, I'll have you know that everything you've said so far, I think, hits the nail right on the head.

Konami's not just being pushy or power-hungry...they're being selfish brats, too.

That is something I could more easily sell local than to sell online... it's pretty heavy so I don't want to deal with shipping this thing.
Posted by: Tyriku on 18:22 CST :: 12/27/2008

Man, I wish there was a way to get Konami's attention, like a Konami-run forum for one of their music games having this one huge topic filled with both players and non-players of Pentavision games expressing their extreme distaste for this ludicrious blawwwwsuit.

It's too bad I can't remember where an official Konami-run music game community would be.

Com'on guys, that's like a DDRfag coming here to rage about Pump and how it destroys the world.

Yes, what Konami is doing is selfish and immature, but with today's economic crunch, people will do ANYTHING for money. The only thing that we can do now is watch and see what the outcome is.

Take a look in the video game section there. They did not like the last sue fest themselves and made a topic about it as well.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was alluding to. :D

No, seriously, a raid wouldn't work (and would also draw specific comparisons to the raid the FFR community had initiated a few months back, and I don't think we're them), however discussing the issue in said topic and making it a huge topic would.

I liked EZ2DJ I liked DJ MAX shit Konami grow a pair and get over it... your the worlds largest music game distro. Just because one new game that  is awesome if not awesomER you don't need your dick (or now seemingly vagina) tied into a knot.
Posted by: DJ_Doc on 06:12 CST :: 1/07/2009

konami thinks about themselves as the almighty videogame creators. They can't have copyright for every concept in this world.
This is as ridiculous as if they try to sue capcom for the silent hill/resident evil case, gimme a break.
