Everybody swears occasionally. In public, in private, in the presence of the opposite sex for many of us, and just whenever you feel like it really. But how much do you swear? I personally think there's a limit to how much "casual" swearing should be used. Around my school it can get pretty ridiculous. I've heard one guy answer his phone, and in the most serious tone possible, say "Fucking hello?". I mean, seriously, who answers their phone that way? I say the word "fucking" shouldn't be used to describe every other noun in a sentence.

Anyway, what do you people think? Do you think it's OK to say whatever the hell you want, or do you refrain from swearing much and use that food group sparingly? Do you swear more online, or in person?

I'm kinda weird on that. I used to be a stupid potty mouth, but I've changed a good bit with that. Online I let a lot slip because I get PO'ed pretty easily, especially with all the stuff I work on and, uh, the people I encounter, but in person I don't really swear much at all. You couldn't offend me with curse words no matter how hard you tried, and I tend to avoid doing it too much, but I'm not one to scream "GOSH DARN GEEZ CRUD" when I stub my toe or step on glass or something.

One scenario is that I'm a (ridiculously) polite individual  in the presence of girls, and I don't swear at all unless there is a really good reason for it and I already know in advance that they don't care. I tend to overabuse the word "crap" though.

If a girl cares whether you swear or not (or if you swear too much) she'll tell you not to be so dirty. Really, that's the only thing you need to worry about if you curse a lot, because girls are just like guys usually. Some care, and some don't.

In everyday speech, the only word I really use is "crap", which I don't consider to be offensive at all. I probably say "oh crap" at least ten times a day. I say lots of euphemisms, though, and if something really does alarm me, I might use a British alternative (e.g. "arse", "shite", "bloody"), all of which I consider to be semi-euphemisms anyway.

Online I'm also quite PC, only occasionally writing the all-too-familiar acronym "wtf".

Current piano projects: None atm.

Some of my performances: Feux D'artifice, by Claude Debussy, La Cathedrale Engloutie, by Debussy, Nocturne in B Major, Op. 62 no. 1, by Frederic Chopin, Ballade no. 1 in G Minor, by Chopin, Amberley Wild Brooks, by John Ireland, Prelude in D Minor, Op. 28 No. 24, by Chopin

Show me a person who describes anything as "overrated", and I'll show you a person who's run out of good ideas.

I swear quite frequently, but it's well-placed.  I don't go around saying "fuck" to do so.
