Before we get any "OMG IN B4 MEXICO" and fucked up comments like that, See the final section regarding "Piracy"

Info and downloads.

Download:
MK6 - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8tpvBzsLcUKVTFrRUlINU1oN2M
MK9 - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8tpvBzsLcUKS043ZUNpVWVXdnc

HDD Raw Copy Tool - http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/

Instructions are included as well as software to do all of the work for you, You dont have to mess around with linux at all. Or a linux install disc, ALL you do is connect a spare HDD to your PC, Run a program, And then put the HDD in your arcade machine when its finished.

There are a few notes though.

MK6 - Comes with a theme, songs, and autoboots into the engine like an arcade game. SM5 Alpha 1

MK9 - Comes with no theme, Does not autoboot (But can easily be modified to do so, Google it!) SM5 Beta 3

Share it, Spread it, Help people enjoy the game pump it up.

If you can improve on these images, Modify them or even make your own theme with them, Then feel free to re-image your HDD and release it, I encourage this 100%! Help the community develop!

Other notes: The MK9 release is an alpha, I didnt finalize it with a theme or autoboot, And barely tested for errors, It was mainly meant as a release for two people. but it is just included for

History
=============================

The roots of this project can be tied back as far as 2012, Where someone by the alias of "djpohly" uploaded a linux based kernel mod which would convert the piuio input from a pump it up dancepad into linux joykeys. At the time I had not heard of it because well. I was JUST getting back into the scene and getting cabinets.

Then one day, An associate of mine who found me through Facebook and another through Youtube were interested in getting machines and running stepmania... One thing leads to another, And I skim the internet for all information possible on ways to get it to run... Naturally I was searching for something to work in windows until somehow the stars aligned and I came across a leaked tutorial on how to run the hardware in linux, Which due to lack of linux users, Faced little/no attention, Fast forward a few days and -gasp- It was a success.

As i was preparing the release, I wanted it to be as simple as possible, insert HDD and play, But I had no theme, No songs, Anything. Of course when I mentioned this to one of the associates who wanted a HDD for his personal cab, He mentioned that he wrote a theme (You guessed it, the infamous Galaxy) Of course I liked the theme, And the included songs (Though I shrunk it down significantly) Applied the theme, Set it to autoboot, And here we are.

Fast forward a year, One of my other friends is talking about getting it working on his MK9 for an upcoming release of a HDD image by the project name "Raveitout" And of course...the MK6 release just wouldnt cut it. So I started working on the MK9 version... Built it, deleted, built, deleted, again and again for 3 months trying to figure out why I couldnt get it setup properly. Only for someone to tell me a week ago that the theme has an error which wont let videos render properly. Removed the theme, Imaged the drive, And uploaded. And here we are today.

A Note about Piracy
=============================

Like it or not, People are going to pirate pump it up games. Their going to use stepmania, Their going to make their own versions, It has been done for years again and again. However, A byproduct of this, Is when I (A person who buys and sells pump it up machines) buys a used machine from someone, They have completely gutted the cabinet, Wired keyboards directly to the sensors, Put windows XP inside of them, And various other things, Making the hardware near worthless and cost quite abit of money to get going.

I am sick of receiving cabinet after cabinet that has been tortured, butchered, and replaced with non-andamiro brand components, And I for one, think that with something like this available, Would help minimize the number of people gutting cabinets, And possibly inspire some people to return to official hardware.

Official HDD and CD images of the games have been around for Ages now, And have been in arcades for ages as well. So... The only thing a release like this could possibly do in terms of piracy, is bring an end to the destruction of cabinets and removal of andamiro hardware.

Final Notes:
=============================

I would like to apologize in advance if any of you have any sort of problem with this thread, But keep in mind that a positive community is not created from negative posts, If you dislike something, The best you can do to show it, is to let it die in the infinite ocean of dead threads, Or report it to staff.

And, again, I repeat, If you can offer some way to make the project better (Ntfs partition with a squashfs filesystem...) then please do so... Communities are delicate and need advancement to keep interest.

Thanks a million for uploading this for the community to use. I use the MK6 build (which works just fine even I do not care for the PIU Galaxy theme) and I must say it was easy to setup and use. Again, all I can say is that I am extremely grateful something like this exists and it isn't necessary to ruin the hardware of any machine. I am going to download and use the MK9 version for a friend's machine. Once I setup the drive and get the chance to use it on his machine, I will report back and let everyone know how it performs. Crossing my fingers all goes well. Thanks again!

Hey guys, just want to say thanks for this project. I spent an entire day trying to put one together myself but kept running into the same problem... annnd for some reason Im running into the same exact problem with this one.

Tried the MK9 release and everything worked fine until I tried to play. My pads didnt work at all. Couldnt configure them either. The PIU IO just doesnt seem to want to work at all. Any ideas?

Glad to see some of you found the project useful. And very glad to hear it wasn't a waste to upload.

I honestly wouldnt be able to assist you with it Neo, Sorry but I have tested this on mannnnny different cabinets in different regions, it has always worked flawlessly. Something possibly couldve been disconnected. Or just like... Not sure. Maybe the io isnt getting power? Or maybe you just use an older / newer revision of the io that isnt compatible? This is specifically made for the USBFX2 model of the piuio. and I dont think they would have made a new model of it that was incompatible... so I dont know what it could be.

Sorry...Not to mention this was made quite some time ago. Thankfully for you though, There is a project out there at the moment though known as "Pump it up Max" that I helped debug and get running properly. It works really well. So...If you wanted to have a custom engine that runs more fast / stable in cabs than Stepmania this would have to be your solution. only downside is you have to convert SM charts to its format

i recently bought my own arcade cab and i want to give huge props to nirvash for putting this hdd image together.  i was all ready to go the hack and slash approach and this saved me from having to do that.

i've been doing some tinkering with this both hardware and software to improve/tweak this to my liking.  it's a WIP that's hit some snags i'm trying to work out; i'll be sure to post results when i get all of the issues resolved to share the wealth, hopefully as this has been so helpful to me i can be helpful to other people too.
