Hey everyone,

I am a veteran Pump it Up player that has not been active on this forum for at least 5 years, and I was wondering if PIU is still popular in the US.  If so, who would you consider to be the top five US players to be right now?  Another quick note, I have not played Fiesta EX, Fiesta 2, or Prime so I am very far behind on the current songs.

JBoy(just won uspf), Zelooo, Guy, ParanoiaBoi, Chaddly.
Yes, i'm from Russia

Out of those five, Jboy and Chaddly are the only ones that I remember back in the 2006-2009 period.  Back when NXA was the newest mix, I believe the best active players around that time were Jboy, JasonDread, Johnny, RedViper, and Kaze.  The thing that still blows my mind is that the top players around the world can S (or even SS) songs that I would struggle to get an A or a B on.

We're still very active, but most online PIU community discussion shifted over to Facebook, unfortunately.

A lot of people are machine owners. We're often the people with the newest games. Chaddly and I have the only Prime machines in Louisiana.

Round1 is the new D&B for Pump.

Is there a Facebook group where I can talk about Pump It Up? I can't seem to find an open group.

Here are some of the more popular groups:

Hopefully it's a bit better than D&B around here. I've hardly played at all in two years because all I've got quick access to is a D&B's NXA that's been completely neglected for a long while.

But... there's a Round1 opening not far in the near future. Might have to start stomping some more.

Round1 is in a league of its own. It makes D&B's music game selection look like an absolute joke.

Have stopped by Round1 the last three weekends now... you weren't kidding. I love that there's now a _good_ PIU machine near me again. Got my USB all sorted, though they'll have the am pass cards soon.

I'm very glad to see that the music games are always getting lots of plays from folks, both who I've stomped on panels with before, and some new faces.

Prime's pretty fun. Still have a lot of newer stuff to go through.

Huh. Maybe I should make a trip out to my closest Round1, then. It's almost a 40 minute drive away, but I was told that there is a Prime1 with internet access, and an Infinity, over there.

If you're talking about Round 1 in Taunton, MA, I've heard those cabinets are in garbage condition. Game Underground in Natick is a much better place to go if you're going for just Pump.

Huh, really? All I've heard about Round1 is that it's "the new D&B" in terms of having good quality and up-to-date Pump machines. And the guy who told me about those machines said that they were great, and that the Prime had an internet connection. Looking on their website, it shows "Prime2 LX" as an upcoming arcade game.

Natick is an even further drive, so...no. Really don't want to drive an hour and a half each way, just to play Pump.

So I double-checked with some people who regularly go to R1 Taunton, and the condition of the Pump machines is this now:

Prime 2 TX: Online, bad pads
Infinity TX: Good pads, bass going out on the speakers

I guess it's worth going for Infinity and other games right now.

Posted by: gotmilk0112 on 22:40 CST :: 2/24/2017

I can't imagine the pads being any worse than the ones at Providence D&B, which has a 10+ year old DX cabinet.

And hell, I've played on some really shitty pads. I'm talking an Exceed DX, at a Tilt arcade. The pads were just awful, and playing anything above a level 13/14 was difficult...but hey, Exceed is always nice.

If anything, it'll be interesting to play on a TX cabinet. In all my years, I've only ever played on DX and GX cabs.

Okay, m8, what the fuck are you talking about "bad pads" ? These pads are fucking incredible, compared to the Providence D&B pads. I mean, it might just be because I've been playing on these 11-year-old DX pads for so long, but the Prime 2 pads feel amazing in comparison. The only problem I could find was the 1P side up-left being a little weak; the rest of the pad was great.

From what I can tell, yes, the Infinity pads are better, but the Prime 2 pads are very, very far from being "garbage". I can do D18/19 stuff on them perfectly fine.
