Hey,
I was wondering what types of mats you guys use for Exceed, sadly the metallic ones are out of my price range but Im really interested in the foam ones since they seem like they're the next best thing. Are DDR mats compatible with PIU? Whats the best mat I can get for the PS2 under 100$ and is the official one any good at all? If not then what are some third party PIU pads I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks in advance

The only thing I have used besides arcade pads are home pads for the PS2 and PC, they seem to get the job done just fine.

However, instead of playing exceed on PS2 may I offer you a suggestion?

while I feel it would be nice to experience Exceed for the PS2 with its silly unlock system and introduction to the game system, StepF2 will offer you every song from every game ever. Even the newest ones (prime and infinity) Which may not be located anywhere near you.

Yeah Ive heard about StepF2 when I looked around for PIU Pads and its honestly amazing! I just downloaded it the other day and I just makes we wish I had a pad to play on.Its miles better than anything Exceed could have been. So then I started looking for PC Pads and besides precision metal pads this was the only pad I found: http://dancepadmania.com/product/pump/pumpdeluxe/

Has anyone tried this or does anyone know any other better alternative just under the 100$ range? Im going to get broke really soon if I keep going to arcades on a daily basis to get my PIU fix  :D

The reviews theyve gotten for the DDR pads they had got compared alot to the Redoctane Ignition and thats pretty relieving since those pads got alot of praise but sadly they werent PIU compatible.

The describtion baffels me though:
"Comprised of durable fabric and filled with high density foam, you won’t believe that you are not on an arcade metal pad!"

I play alot on the arcades so Id know how it would feel and there is no way a soft pad could even come close to fully replicating that, but its the best choice right now and Ive heard great things about them so Im willing to give them a shot. I could review it later on once I got enough practice with them. I would still love to hear peoples feedback from this site though.

If you're going to play Step F2, then I'd highly recommend Precision Dance Pads Omega PX. I got one a while ago and it's been fantastic. A bit glitchy here and there, but overall an extremely solid pad.

Never heard of those either.

For what it's worth, home DDR pads that have active center panels aren't very conducive to playing Pump.  I have a Cobalt Flux pad for DDR, and it just doesn't feel right - you ever noticed how the left and right steel panels on Pump are narrower than the up and down panels?  So that the corners can be longer?  That's a lot more important than you'd ever realize until you play it yourself, especially at higher level play.  It sucks having to own separate dance pads for such similar games, but thems the breaks.
