Right now we're going to keep everything the way it is.

If you want to try and change this, try and post something on the Facebook event wall, and see if enough people agree with you to get it changed ;)

Thanks again for all of your interest in this upcoming competition. Please note this is a Pump It Up Pro 2 tournament and as so the song list has been expanded. There are a handful of new, terribly difficult songs I feel make up for the absence of those that have been banned. I.E.: Dream to Nightmare, What Happened, Hardkore of the North, GO! (EK Mix), Pink Fuzzy Bunnies, Star Command, and Hell Flame.

I apologize if having these songs banned from the competition comes as a disappointment.

You are correct in your assumption that not many people will pick the long songs in the game, but I don't feel they belong in the competition due to their length. I do agree most of the songs in Pro and Pro 2 are quite a bit easier than those found in traditional Pump, but this is a Pro competition after all. Also, a good majority of our competitors have a skill level that includes songs with ratings from 9 to 12. I would take advantage of this.

As for the state of the pads, they are in good shape. My friend and I replaced some of the bracket screws and leveled the pads the best we could this past Friday (11.05.10). The sensors themselves are responsive, but may require some maintenance before the competition. We will not be performing this maintenance and will require the services of Primetime Amusements, the company who owns the machine. We do not own the machine and do not want to perform maintenance we are incapable of doing. We will leave that to the professionals. However, we will replace the remaining bracket screws that are missing and perform any software updates that come out between now and January.

Thanks again and please keep the questions coming!

After reading through some of the earlier posts that were made I have come up with a solution regarding long songs. I feel long songs can be selected as long as both competitors agree on the selected song. If not, then another selection must be made.

Please leave comments and let us know if you believe this is fair. Otherwise, I feel a vote must be made on the Facebook event page. It seems most people want long songs to be included, so this may be a very possible and probable change.

Thanks.

Because this is a competitive tournament, if someone going to lose on a song for sure, they'll more than likely disagree. áI don't think its fair only because of that. áIf someone picks a 7 on me, and I disagreed on it, no one would have any argument about letting the song be played, so I don't see why long songs would be any different since the only real argument I've seen against it is time and you can see from Sikraiken's post that that the long songs are only marginally longer.

As for the pads, something I would highly recommend would be Hellacious's foam mod if everyone agrees that it would be a good idea. áIt does not require any tampering with the wires (not that you would need to anyways), very inexpensive (Foam sheets are like $2 at walmart) and takes very little time to apply (Take of the screws, peel off and stick the foam on top of the L bracket and done). áI've use it on my machine for about 6 months now and my machine never gives me any pad problems anymore and are very sensitive without being oversensitive to vibrations from steps (Which seemed to be the problem at BB.). It also helped level my pads so there aren't recessed panels.

Thank you Thanh for your insight. But, we'll just let the professionals do their job.

"The professionals" never know how to fix pads properly because they don't play the game.  "Working" to them is the pads light up and activate.

Thanh,

I like your suggestion for modifying the pads, but I don't feel we should mess with anything that doesn't belong to us (unless if it's something you'd like to do at your own risk).

Anyhow, after reviewing many of our participant's opinions about the ban on long songs, I have decided to remove the ban. I apologize for all the unnecessary drama this issue has created. Now then, let's prepare for the fun this tournament will bring!

I thought everyone knew that I am "The Professional".  Honestly though, if the pads aren't up to the standards of the players then it negates the purpose of the tournament.  No one can prove that they are the best if you are having pad issues throughout the entire tournament.  I can't say for sure but it does sound like Thanh knows what he is doing using my method.  He is obviously a great player which does add my personal recommendation to get approval from BB to allow him to modify the pads with the foam mod.  If BB understands the fact that with better pads, the machine will make more money... its kind of a win win for them.  I doubt Thanh is going to charge them to fix the pads up.  I'd much rather play on a properly maintained machine than one supposedly maintained by 98% of the US Arcade Technicians that only know ON and OFF like a light switch for being Functional or not.  That doesn't consider it being Playable nor does it consider it being in Tournament Playable Condition.  All of which are completely different things.
