Well, Hellacious, I don't know how this concerns Beat at the Boardwalk! Like Crevolous said, if you wish to fix the pads on your own, so be it. Do it. But, Beat at the Boardwalk! will not have anything to do with it.

From reading the posts, BotB does not actually OWN the Pro 2 machine, so it wouldn't do any good to ask them?  Primetime Amusement is the owner of the machine?

Even though I definitely can't make this tournament, I really think that being able to apply Hellacious's mod would definitely better ensure a fair tournament, especially when timing windows become a factor on a game like Pro 2...

Exactly so in most relationships like this, you have to have the consent of Primetime Amusements to allow you to do the work on the pads.  In addition to that, BB has to be aware that you are coming in to do the work and that Primetime has approved the work.  If you don't have that clearance, they could have you arrested.  That's why everyone is like do it at your own risk.  I'm saying that overall, someone that lives down in the area has to partner with the right people to be able to do such a thing.

I personally know the maintenance guy at BB. Hes a smart person. If I ask him to get the pads "into shape" hes going to do it right. I, for one, don't wish to get arrested. I will just let the professionals do their job.

And plus, I don't like to talk to the guy from PrimeTime. He's a jerk, lol.

Can't you count Thanh as a professional? He works at an arcade and I assume maintains the machine. and Joe owns a machine and maintains that as well. I don't think you realize how simple of a process fixing up pads is. You take off the panel and tape a piece of foam to the sensor bracket and replace the panel, end of story. It takes like 20 minutes.

Tenchi50,

You are correct that Thanh is a professional and is more than capable of working on the pads. However, adding pieces of foam changes how the pads came from the factory and therefore changes the game play of the tournament. I will not allow this to be done with my acknowledgement.

I personally feel the pads might be a little sensitive than normal. Other than that, they seem perfectly fine in my opinion minus the missing bracket screws (which I will replace myself). I know Thanh lives some distance away from Boardwalk, but if he would like to work on the pads himself, then by all means I think he should do it. Just please do not mod them with the foam inserts. If he can't make it to Boardwalk between now and January to work on the pads, then I will consult one of my friends who own a machine and ask them for assistance.

Thanks.

CREv.

There's a problem when I get goods doing something like 190bpm stream.  It's also a problem when it's just in some easy 8th notes and I'm getting Superbs otherwise.  The problem is oversensitivity in general, but it still needs to be fixed.  I shouldn't be setting off the 2p panels when I'm on the 1p side, either.  I don't mind fixing it, and I doubt it would take foam to fix since it's not a lack of sensitivity that is the issue.  I'd have to see what's going on inside the pads, though.

Just playing the game changes how the pads came from the factory because the original foam gets compressed/worn down, the sensors take a beating, and the panels change a little too.  There's a reason semi-frequent pad maintenance goes a long way to keep a machine in great shape to play on.  Foam (and/or some other minor things, it depends on what the issue is) would make a lot of the poor condition machines or even ok machines out there function a lot better.
