I'm thinking of buying an old PIU Cabinet, haven't found someone selling it yet (and haven't got the money either :P), I may buy an SX or a GX. I'll just wait until some arcades close and sell their machines :P

The question is, if when I buy a machine and it has MK6 or older, can I actually build a MK9? Does it needs specific hardware?
If Motherboard & VGA is the only thing that be matched then I think it would be much cheaper to do an upgrade, so that's why I'm asking. (At least I won't have to buy an MK9 that might be more expensive than building my own) I also have a spare 1GB DDR2 RAM that I can use.

The short version of the question:
Can I build my own MK9? If so, what's the hardware I need?

EDIT: Happy new year guys :)

Incidentally I recently replaced my dead MK6 with an MK9 recently!

Motherboard: Either Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L (MK9v1) or Asrock G41M-S3 (MK9v2; I have the Asrock one because it's still sold new)
Graphics card: Geforce 8400GS (MK9v1) or Geforce 9300GS (MK9v2)
Memory: DDR2 or DDR3 depending on motherboard (512 MB or higher)
Processor: Intel anything that works with the motherboard (Using Core 2 Duo on mine)

This configuration will run Fiesta EX and Fiesta 2 for sure.  You will still need to connect the PIUIO JAMMA to the motherboard via USB to have input, but if you already have an MK6, you have that.

Also, if your MK6 still works, it will run Fiesta 2 and below (all the way down to NX or Zero depending) as well, so if you care about compatibility with more mixes, it's better to have an MK6...

I'm going to go with MK9 as I'm sure with Fiesta and up, MK9 will work best. I may build one then haha, but If I really got short on money I'll just use MK6 for a while ahaha

Lucky you guys who live in USA, shipping is fairly easier, as majority of the seller on eBay are from USA...

Thanks for the help :)

EDIT: Anyways you sure it's Asrock G41M-S3 not Asrock G41M-VS3?
I couldn't find Asrock G41M-S3 sold new here in my local stores, only the VS3 one :/

Currently I'm running Fiesta 2 with an MK6. I've upgraded the memory, but it runs Fiesta 2, Pro 2, and everything else before that perfectly.

Honestly I'd wait until the next mix to consider rebuilding your hardware.

Hi guys! You're running Fiesta 2 on MK6 with 1GB DDR2? Also, what video card do you use?

Thanks!

My MK6 runs Exceed 2, too. Probably Exceed 1 as well.

My Mk6v2 would not run Exceed 2 and would not run Zero with sound, due to Zero not having drivers for it.  I guess you have an Mk6 v1 :)

Unless you found a way around using the lock-chip or found a place to plug it into on the MK6, you won't be able to play Exceed 1 on the MK6. You must have an MK5 since the lock-chip used for Exceed 1 plugs in differently than the new USB lock-chips.

Ah, interesting.

Exceed 2 almost completely renders Exceed 1 obsolete, at least.
