Exceed ran on the MK5 which had the MK5IO (basically a modified and backwards compatible ISAIO from the MK3 days) - because of this, Exceed will not run with the MK6/9-IO (the USB-IO). Exceed also used the EEPROM chip for saving data (not present in the MK6 or newer) and actually has extremely limited sound support (starting the mp3 decoder thread will crash the game on most modern sound cards)... basically without a lot of work, exceed won't run on an mk6 or newer.

I just bought an used GX (comes with Exceed 2, not sure if it will have a mk5 or mk6) and will arrive in the next 2 weeks. I'd like to know if I were to buy all of those parts (motherboard, graphics, processor.. etc etc), will I need an Andamiro BIOS or something to boot the games? Do you know if there are any guidelines to make your homemade mkX?

Thank you! I'm pretty new to this so I know nothing (:

As long as the motherboard and video card match the exact type of MK you're trying to build, you should be all set. No BIOS modifications are needed.

Incidentally I recently replaced my dead MK6 with an MK9 recently!

Motherboard: Either Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L (MK9v1) or Asrock G41M-S3 (MK9v2; I have the Asrock one because it's still sold new)
Graphics card: Geforce 8400GS (MK9v1) or Geforce 9300GS (MK9v2)
Memory: DDR2 or DDR3 depending on motherboard (512 MB or higher)
Processor: Intel anything that works with the motherboard (Using Core 2 Duo on mine)

This configuration will run Fiesta EX and Fiesta 2 for sure.  You will still need to connect the PIUIO JAMMA to the motherboard via USB to have input, but if you already have an MK6, you have that.

Also, if your MK6 still works, it will run Fiesta 2 and below (all the way down to NX or Zero depending) as well, so if you care about compatibility with more mixes, it's better to have an MK6...

I'm trying to find the 9300 GS but I can't find it anywhere, it seems it's really hard to get it now.

Is there a problem if I mix the motherboard from mk9v2 with the 8400 GS?

Thanks!

nahh thats fine... basically the drivers look up the PID of the card so it really doesn't matter - you can basically use any pci-E nvidia card and it will support it (the drivers  on f2 compiled are the ones from sep2012, the ones from fiesta are like 2009). I have a list around here somewhere of what driver it is but just play it safe - stick in the same family (7,8,9) and you should be fine.

ohh I see! Thanks for the info.

Also, the motherboards listed here loos really discontinued. What does the Pump It Up software look for? For example, if I get a motherboard that has the same chipset, audio driver, and an award BIOS, would it work? Or does the software look up for something more?

Thanks for all your help.

Same chipset (or at least, similar), same soundcard [or at least similar] (which is usually onboard, so refer to chipset), and the video drivers. Usually yeah like above said, I guess any NVIDIA 7xxx 8xxx 9xxx would work.

I know the MK9 V1 type A will run NX2.

But, I have not got it to work with the V2 type B

-----------

To run NX2, Odds are you will need to have....

Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-945GZM-s2
VGA - GeForce 7200GF (512mb ram)
