I have an NX2 cabinet and the speakers "click" or "buzz" in sync with the neon blinking. It's most noticeable in attract mode without sound but is present while playing as well. It's very annoying. Any ideas what's going on?

Sounds like it isnt a properly grounded outlet or your cabinet is bypassing a noise filter.

What type of cabinet is it? NX2 is just the version of game, not the cabinet type.

SX2. Wiring looks untouched. Has filter. Grounded plug.

Investigated further. Simply touching the metal bracket with the FLW, Woofer, and Master knobs quieted the buzz, so I ran a ground wire from it to the coin box. The clicking remained, so I ran the wire all the way to the field ground directly at the AC-in. The clicking remains, so I suspect it's a bad component in the FLW knob area or the amp. I can just plug in the audio-out from the PC to a receiver and bypass the whole works, right? Lights will still work?

My machine's been doing this for YEARS, even with the neon out, and I've more or less given up on trying to fix it.

My machine was doing the same, the best option is lowering the FLW and raising the MASTER almost to the maximum

To answer your question, lights will still work if you plug in a receiver. One solution is to unplug your neon or maybe convert it to leds. It could be the transformer that runs the neon. But yes, lights are controlled by the computer. As long as the middle connector and all the other stuff from the amp box is plugged in, your good.

Then its bad grounding. You said it quieted the buzz when you touched the component. Touching it grounded the component.

There's a red wire and yellow wire powering the pre-amp. A green wire is spliced with the red wire and screwed into the metal bracket (red=ground???). I jumped that wire directly to field ground. I also FG'd the +12v PSU. Buzz is gone. It would be nice if the machine was grounded correctly from the factory.
